Recommendations For Carrying 4-Bikes On 2012 Toyota Prius V
Question:
Hello, I have a 2012 Prius V and wanted to get a hitch and a bike rack capable for holding 4 bikes. I only see two hitches available for 2012 Prius V and both hitches are Class I hitch. Since the hitch is Class I, Looking at the bike racks I only see Thule racks holding up to 2 bikes. Those that says can hold 4 bikes are for Class II hitch only. Is there anyway I can carry 4 bikes with 2012 Prius V at the back. Thanks!

The trailer hitches available for your 2012 Prius V are all Class l hitches as you found out. This does limit any bike carrier mounted in the hitch to 2 bikes.
One option for carrying 4-bikes would be to install a roof rack and carry 2 bikes on that as well as a hitch mounted bike carrier with 2 bikes.
The hitch I recommend is # 24847.
For a 2-bike carrier I recommend part # TH9058.
For a roof rack I recommend the Yakima roof rack. This system has 48-inch round crossbars and a custom fit kit for your Prius. To order this bike carrier you will need part # Y00408, part # Y28TR, part # Y03536, part # Y06117, part # Y06174.
You could install the hitch and tow a small trailer like part # Y08106. This small trailer has 66-inch round crossbars and you can fit up to 5 bikes on the trailer.
For a drawbar and trailer hitch ball I recommend part # 3593 for the drawbar and part # 19258 for the hitch ball.
I have attached a link to the Yakima bike carriers that can work with the crossbars on the roof rack and trailer you can check out.
