Replacement Trailer Jack For A-Frame Coupler With 2500 lb Tongue Weight
Question:
Hi, Im looking for an appropriate extendable jack foot for my camper trailer. I have an A-frame jack where the upper/outer tube is 2inch OD and lower/inner tube is 1.75inch OD. The tongue weight of my trailer is 2,500lbs. The DL22541 jack foot looks like it would fit fine, but is only rated for 1000lbs. Is it safe to use something designed for larger tubes, such as the AT81030, for my application or is my only option to replace the trailer jack? Thanks

For your application there really isn't a comparable replacement jack. You cannot use a product designed for larger tubes on your jack that has moving parts. You could use a foot that is larger and then use a metal tube as a coupler to give you a firm connection as long as the rating is strong enough. I recommend just getting a new jack like the etrailer Round A-Frame Trailer Jack - Sidewind - 15-5/8" Travel - 5,000 lbs # TJA-5000S-B. You may need to file the opening in your coupler to fit the jack, but it will give you the capacity you need as well as a footplate option like Drop Leg for etrailer and Ram Jacks - 13-1/4" Tall - 5-1/4" Diameter Footplate - Zinc # JF-1005H-Z designed for your tongue weight capacity and compatible with your jack.
