Recommendation to Carry 4 Bikes with 2011 Volvo XC60
Question:
Dear E Trailer, I am looking for a rear mounted bike rack for our Volvo XC 60 2011. I need it to hold 4 bikes but cannot find one and wondered if you would help me with my challenge? Thanks

We do have a nice selection of trunk-mount bike carriers that are confirmed to fit your 2011 Volvo XC60, such as the Yakima FullBack Bike Rack # Y02634, however the most this or any trunk rack can safely hold is 2 bikes. We do not have any 3-bike trunk racks.
To transport 4 bikes with your XC60, I recommend using a hitch-mounted bike carrier like the Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR. When used with a 2 inch trailer hitch receiver, this will allow you to transport up to 4 bikes at 35 pounds each. This carrier features a tilting mast for easy rear cargo access on your vehicle and a built-in anti-rattle bolt to secure the rack to the hitch and reduce movement.
If you plan on carrying any children's, women's or alternative frame bikes, you may need to use an adapter bar like the Swagman # 64005. This will provide a horizontal attachment point for level transport and increased ground clearance. I have included a demonstration video on this product so you can get a better idea as to why this might be needed.
I have also attached a link to our available selection of 4-bike hitch-mounted carriers for you to look through.
If you do not already have a trailer hitch installed on your vehicle, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Receiver Hitch # 75671. This is custom-fit for your XC60 and will provide the 2 inch hitch receiver needed for using a 4-bike carrier. I have attached an installation video on 2016 Volvo XC60 for you to check out.
