Recommended Sliding Hitch For Smooth Ride On 2016 Ram 3500 Mega Cab Short Bed With Factory Pucks
Question:
I am a first time Fifthwheel owner and will be heading out to fulltime. I have a 2016 Ram 3500 Mega Cab with 64inch bed and factory puck system. I purchased a 2017 Highland Ridge 3x 427BHS that has pin weight of @2600#s. I want the smoothest ride I can get. What do you recommend for hitch/pin box combination?

For your 2016 Ram 3500 with 6 foot bed, the best manual sliding hitch is the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider for Ram Towing Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 20K # BWRVK3670 if you want a very popular manual sliding hitch. This hitch will directly connect to your factory pucks without any additional parts needed.
Since you asked for the smoothest ride, I recommend the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - Single Jaw - Above Bed - 18,000 lbs # DM8550034. This hitch automatically slides for you to give you the smoothest transitions without even leaving the cab of your truck. This hitch does require the Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Ram OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package - 25,000 lbs # DM6099 to fit your factory pucks.
For easy wiring connection, I recommend the Bargman # 50-97-410 to put a 7-way in the bed of your truck. This gives you easy access for connection.
