5th Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter with More Offset to Tow 5th Wheel with 2017 GMC Sierra 1500
Question:
Hello Michael i have a 2017 gmc with a gooseneck hitch in a 6 1/2 foot box i tried to hitch to a 5th wheel trailer just to see if i would be able to tow it if i put on an extender,do you fellas have a longer gooseneck plate that goes on the trailer that i could switch from the 5th wheel to gooseneck i think that would be better than the extender because i think i would have to go with the 8 inch hitch and i understand that it is hard on the trailer frame . Thanks

As far as adapters to tow a 5th wheel trailer with a gooseneck hitch there are not a lot of options and fewer still that offer a true offset. The Ranch Hitch and Convert-A-Ball adapters with offsets actually will not provide any additional turning clearance because they do not move the pivot point of the trailer.
If the hitch in your 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 short bed happens to be B&W hitch # BWGNRK1057 then you can use the Companion slider hitch in it, # BWRVK3400-5W. This hitch has 12 inches of travel so it provides more clearance to make tight turns than any adapter.
If your truck has the factory gooseneck hitch then the Companion will not fit and you would need to use an adapter such as the Andersen Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection which has 5-1/4 inches of true offset.
