Increasing Turn Clearance to Tow a Fifth Wheel Trailer with an Atwood AB-72 Pin Box

Question:

I have an Atwood AB-72 pin box and would like to put on an extension king pin for more clearance in short bed truck. Which one will fit/is recommended

We don't carry any type of extension to improve the turning clearance with your fifth wheel trailer. Pin boxes are designed to be direct replacements and have the same dimensions as the original. Normally, a Sidewinder pin box is what I would recommend but there isn't a Sidewinder to replace your Atwood AB-72.

Instead I recommend replacing your fifth wheel hitch with a sliding hitch. The best sliding hitch we carry is the Demco Hijacker Autoslide # DM8550034. The sliding mechanism is automatic and doesn't require you to get out of your truck to engage it. I've linked a video for you to take a look at.
