Should 4-Point Sway Control be Used on 38 Foot Travel Trailer
Question:
Purchased a 38foot travel trailer. Have a E2 Fastway Sway Control Hitches 1200 - 12000 Trunnion 92-00-1200 WD hitch. When its windy I encounter quite a bit of sway. There is 12foot from rear axle to rear of trailer. This is 2 point sway control. Should I step up to the 4 point? Hate to spend that much more and it not work. Your thoughts?

Expert Reply:
The 4-point sway control of a weight distribution system like the Equal-I-zer # EQ37120ET will definitely fight sway better than the 2-point Fastway system you have. However, before replacing it would make sure it's adjusted and rated properly.
Make sure the tongue weight of your loaded trailer added to the weight stored behind your tow vehicle's rear axle isn't over the 1,200 pound tongue weight rating of the Fastway. You can use a tongue weight scale, # e99044, to be completely sure.
