Recommended Slipper Spring Suspension for 10,000 Pound Trailer

Question:

Hi , I have a trailer with axles that are 3in diameter. The rims we will be using are 16s with 8 holes and I plan on using this tire size 235/85 16. . Our max wieght loaded would not be more than 10,000lbs, but you have no hydralic brake actuators for that weight, so I plan on purchasing the 12,500lb hydraulic brake actuator you sell. Given these specs I need you to tell me what spring leaf slippers, equalizers and hanger kit to buy. I really need your expertise on the suspension by the way the chassis is made of 4x4inch structual steel 1/4inch thick walls, I would also appreciate instructions as to placement for proper weight distribution. If you dont have this info thats ok just point me in the right direction please.

For Slipper Springs to install on your trailer that will have a maximum load of around 10,000 pounds, I recommend either the 5-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Hook End for 6,000 pound Axles # e67SR or the 4-Leaf Slipper Spring for 5,000 Pound Axles # SP-231275, depending on the actual axle capacity for your trailer.

Then for a hanger kit, which will work for either of the Slipper Springs mentioned above, I recommend the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for 2 Inch Slipper Springs # AP216-H202. This kit includes the hangers, equalizers and shackle bolts needed. Note that this is designed for tandem-axle trailers, which I assume is what your trailer has, however if it is not, please let me know and I will be happy to give you additional options.

Lastly, you will need a U-Bolt Kit like the Redline # APUBR-8. This kit is designed for 3 inch axles and you will need one kit for each axle on your trailer.

I have attached a really nice image that will help you determine the proper axle placement on your trailer. I have also included an article on Slipper Spring Suspension that you may find helpful.
