Replacing Tires with Higher Load Range for Trailer's Weight Capacity

Question:

My 5th wheel is coming with ST225/75R/15LRD tires! Its GVWR is 11500 lbs.! I just dont get it other than for cost reasons and nothing to do with safety! Before even using this trailer, I want to install ST225/75R/15LRF tires. The manufacturer says the OEM wheels will hold to 110psi, I will need to ask if the wheels will hold the F rated tires. What recommended tire will work for my application? I realize there arent any decent brands out there that wont go POP Will a higher rated, stiffer tire effect leaf spring life??

That's actually not uncommon for your tire's rating to be less than the trailer's GVWR since you have to keep in mind that approximately 20 percent of the trailer's weight will be on the hitch.

With that being said if you'd feel safer increasing the load range of your tires the Provider # TR225LRE is an ST225/75R15 size tire with an E load range. These have a max capacity of 2,830 pounds at 80 psi. They also have an 81 mph speed rating which is higher than a lot of tires.

We don't carry any tires in your size with an F load range.
