Platform Bike Rack Recommendation for Carbon Frame Bike
Question:
Im looking at a platform style rack for my carbon bikes. However, it seems most recommend tire mount rather than frame for carbon. How does it lock and secure the bike? Couldnt someone just unclip the release on the wheel and take the bike? At least with the frame mount they would have to break the rack.

When you secure the arm of a wheel mount bike rack to the front wheel of a bike the arm ends up locking into place and the only way to release the arm is to have the correct key which will allow the arm to release. Since the arm grabs the tire behind the highest point of the tire it would not just slip off either.
A very popular wheel mount platform rack is the Thule T2 part # TH83JV. This is one of the easiest to use and nicest platform racks on the market. You would really like this rack for your carbon bikes. I attached a review video for this rack as well. This rack weighs 52 lbs which is still on the lighter end of platform bike racks.
If you are looking for the lightest option though we have the Saris Freedom SuperClamp EX2 part # SA4025F which comes in right at 35 lbs. This USA made rack (Thule is also made in USA), is one of my favorite racks to recommend since it works well doesn't weigh much.
