Maintenance Charging Trailer Batteries Using An Isolation Solenoid
Question:
I purchased the battery isolation solenoid so I could connect our camper battery to the 7-way plug on our truck. When I was getting ready to install the wiring it dawned on me that I had different types of batteries between the truck and the camper. In the camper I have two deep cycle AGM batteries wired in parallel and in the truck I have a standard flooded lead-acid battery. Is this acceptable to wire these for the maintenance charge? FYI during periods of non-use I installed an AGM battery trickle charger inside the camper to maintain the charge on the batteries.

Yes. The difference in battery styles doesn't matter for you to use the Battery Isolation Solenoid # PK5231201 to give you a maintenance charge on your trailer batteries while connected.
When disconnected from your tow vehicle for long periods, I recommend using a battery tender/maintainer like the NOCO Genius Mini # 329-GENIUS5 versus a trickle charger on those batteries to make sure your trailer is ready for use when you are ready to camp. This unit uses a multi-stage charging algorithm that charges batteries 2 times faster than traditional chargers without overcharging.
