Wiring Tekonsha Brake Controller to 7-Way
Question:
I have wired everything as per diagram. In the trailer plug there was already a blue wire connection. Should I disconnect this and just put the blue wire from the brake controller or is it ok to have both blue wires in there. Trailer plug is factory fitted by Toyota. Ute is a Toyota hilux SR5 2014. Green light stays on constantly, not too worried about this as the ute gets driven every day.

The blue wire on a brake controller carries the trailer brake output signal. So long as the controller is getting power and the brake switch signal to trigger it into sending out brake power, then you could simply route the signal from the blue wire at the back of the controller to the pin on the 7-way that typically carries the trailer brake circuit. This simply bypasses the vehicle wiring.
On an RV 7-way the brake circuit will usually be on the contact at the 5-o-clock position as you look at the 7-way socket. Please refer to the linked photo and wiring article. You can directly connect the blue output wire to this contact on the 7-way; if you need additional wire you can use # 10-1-1 which is sold by the foot. You may also need butt connectors like # 05732-2.
The power drawn by the small LED on the controller does not pose any risk of depleting your battery.
