Recommendations For 5th Wheel Hitch And Underbed Gooseneck Compatibility
Question:
what is your thought on the Anderson style hitch that fits back into the bed of the truck after use ?
asked by: Tim L
Expert Reply:
Andersen's hitch that connected over the gooseneck hitch ball was very popular and worked very well. That Andersen hitch we no longer carry. The manufacturer is discontinuing the steel version because they now have an aluminum version. Unfortunately, the price point just doesn't work for us to carry that one.
We do have other options if you are interested in a 5th wheel hitch. If you have a B&W gooseneck, the B&W Companion Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter - Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs # BWRVK3500 is the ideal hitch compatible with that system. If you have a round gooseneck ball, the Hi-Rise Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter by Bulldog, Draw-Tite and Reese # 9480 is a great option. We also have the Curt X5 5th Wheel Base Rails Adapter for Curt Double Lock Gooseneck Trailer Hitches - 20,000 lbs # C16210 that will allow you to use any standard 5th wheel hitch.
Another option is a pin box adapter like the Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter - Lippert 1621 - 20,000 lbs # RP85FR. These are pin box model specific, so you will need to know your pin box number that is often found right on your trailer pin box with a sticker.
