Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for a 2017 Ford F-250 6-3/4 foot Bed and Factory Prep Package
Question:
Hello, Im looking for a 5th wheel hitch for my 2017 Ford F-250. It came with factory 5th wheel prep. I need just a hitch that will fit. The below model came up in my search for F-250 with prep but the pictures dont show it using the prep package. Does this actually work? Otherwise can you suggest another model? Also, if I do buy this and it doesnt fit is there any return option? Thanks!

The Pro Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30051 that you referenced in your question will fit industry standard base rails as it is. For it to fit your 2017 Ford F-250 you will need to use the Reese Elite Adapter # RP30156 as well.
Even though Reese puts out good products, I highly recommend going with a different 5th wheel hitch as the Reese # RP30051 is a very entry-level 5th Wheel Hitch. Since it only uses a square tube design which won't provide as smooth of a transition when in the maneuvering position.
My favorite sliding 5th Wheel Hitch is the Demco Hijacker # DM8550024. This is an Autoslide 5th wheel hitch which uses a single jaw to secure the king pin and then also has a locking bar that locks the king pin in for peace of mind. The best part about the hitch is the autoslide feature. On regular sliding 5th wheel hitches you have to keep getting in and out of your truck just to make some tighter turns. Since the Hijacker has an autoslide feature, you never have to get out of your truck before turning to mess with the hitch. This hitch will install right into the factory pucks on your F-250.
Check out the demonstration videos that I attached for you to view.
