For your 2005 Chevy Avalanche, I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e26KR. With this hitch, I recommend using the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Trailer Hitches # 63232.
If you will be towing with this hitch receiver, I recommend the Wiring Harness Kit with 4 Pole Trailer Connector (Includes Install Kit) # C59496. This kit will give you the quick-splice connectors as well as the wiring to power the modulite from the battery to protect your truck.
For a ball mount, I recommend the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount # BWTS20037B. This is an adjustable mount to allow you to tow level. It has 2 hitch ball options and a really nice stowing feature to get the ball mount out of the way when you don't need it and it has a clean look.
