Draw-Tite Goosneck Hitch Comparison for a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500

Question:

Just wandering which hitch would be better. Im looking at the item number 8339-4439 versus the item number 9460-39. I have a 2001 Dodge 2500 Diesel. I dont think I would ever attempt to pull 30000 lbs but looking at both hitches there doesnt seem to be a lot of difference. Thanks for your opinion.

I would personally go with the Hide-A-Goose, # 9460-39, because the only part of the hitch that will be sticking out above the bed is the hitch ball. The Fold-Down Gooseneck Hitch, # 8339-4439, will have the entire ball plate sticking out above the bed (see photo). This may be an inconvenience if you use your truck to haul anything other than your trailer such as plywood, drywall, rock or anything else that could get caught on the hitch ball plate.

Also, it doesn't hurt to have the higher weight capacity, even if you won't come close to towing that much. That little extra safety margin is good peace of mind.

I attached an installation video of the Hide-A-Goose on a 2001 Dodge Ram for you to check out.
