Option to Replace 155/80-13 Size Trailer Tires

Question:

Hello. I need to replace the tires on my boat trailer. The original tires are ST155/80R13 Load Range B tires. I cannot find ST155 tires and I am afraid a ST175 would rub the frame. Which would be a better option, ST145R12 or 5.30-12 size, or something else?

If you go up to 175/80-13 sized tires, like # they will be about 1-1/2 inches larger in diameter and about 1/2 inch wider. You want at least 3 inches between the tread and fender and an inch between the sidewall to the inside of the wheel well. If you have the clearance it will be better to go with the larger tire than the smaller.

If you go down to the 145/R12, like # AM35354, or the 5.30-12 like # AM35354, you'll have tires that are about an inch smaller in diameter and about a 1/2 inch thinner.

If going with the smaller size is your only option because of clearance I would stick with the radial tires instead of going with bias tires. Radial tires run cooler and lasts longer than a bias tire will.
