Trailer Brakes Will Not Lock Up Using Prodigy P3 Electric Brake Controller in 2011 GMC Yukon

Question:

During initial set up, I cannot get my Yukon to lock up the trailer brakes. I can feel them grabbing and braking, but just not enough to lock up - even at the highest setting. I pulling a very light 2017 R-Pod 179 travel trailer. Any suggestions? Thanks

You don't necessarily need the brakes to lock up at the highest setting. Best is to have them set just short of locking up. You can check the output by testing the voltage on the pin in the 5 O'clock position. You should get about 12 volts when using the manual override on the Prodigy P3 # 90195.

There's a good chance your brakes need to be adjusted. I've linked a video that shows the process at about the 4:40 mark. You want them adjusted tight enough to get a slight drag when spinning the wheels by hand.
