Will 2014 GMC Yukon Rear Hatch Clear 18 Inch Tubs Loaded on Curt Cargo Carrier C18151
Question:
I have a 2014 GMC Yukon. Will I be able to open my rear door all the way if I put 18 inch tall rubbermaid tubs on the rack? I need to be able to access kennels in the back of my car through the rear door while the rack is fully loaded. Thanks!! Looking at the C18151

In order to determine if you will be able to open the hatch with 18 inch tubs loaded on carrier # 18151 there are some measurements needed.
First, measure out 20 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole on your 2014 GMC Yukon trailer hitch. Measure straight back. Then from that point measure 18 inches upward. If the hatch does not reach that point when opening then it will clear the tubs.
Another option is to use a hitch extender, # HE06, to extend the carrier out some so the hatch will clear the cargo. The only issue is that the use of an extender will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent. As long as the combined weight of the carrier and the cargo loaded on it does not exceed the reduced tongue weight capacity then an extension is a viable option.
