Recommended 5th-Wheel Hitch for 2017 GMC Sierra 3500 with Factory Rail Kit and Sidewinder
Question:
I am buying a new GMC 3500 with the factory prep kit and need a new fifth wheel. I tow a Grand Design 328M toy hauler with a reese 19k sidewinder pin box. I am debating between the Curt Q24 and the BandW Companion both of which work in the factory puck system. My question is which tends to be the better product and is one better suited for the wedge system the sidewinder pinbox requires. Thanks and I look forward to buying a new hitch from you guys very soon!

Both the B&W 20K Companion # BWRVK3700 and the Curt Q24 # C16545-16025 mentioned in your question are great 5th-wheel trailer hitches.
I recommend the B&W # BWRVK3700 for a few reasons. The primary and most important difference between the two when considering your particular setup, is that the Curt Q24 is actually not compatible with a Sidewinder Pin Box. The B&W Companion will work with your Sidewinder without any issues.
Aside from that, B&W also has a great reputation in the industry and is known for the quality and reliability of its hitches. The Companion does have a 20,000 pound gross towing rating which is less than the 24,000 pound capacity Curt Q24, but considering you are using a 19K Sidewinder Pin Box, the added capacity on the Curt or other higher rated hitches is unnecessary.
There is a custom wedge available for the B&W Companion for use with the Reese Sidewinder which will be easier to use and more secure than the universal wedge. For this you will use part # SWW-06.
If you do not have one already, I also recommend a 5th-wheel Wiring Harness like the Curt # C56000. Once installed, this will provide a 7-way connection in the bed of your truck for easy hookup with your camper.
