Material of License Plate Bracket Included with Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera
Question:
In regards to: HM50002 Im interested in installing this to my 2012 Jeep Wrangler. I have a Call of Duty edition which has two holes in the rear bumper, which are centered and 13 1/2inch apart. Im considering having a piece of metal fabricated to attach to the bumper, then attach the camera to the piece of metal. My question is, what is the mounting bracket with sensors part C on the installation instructions made of? After installing and confirming everything works correctly, Im hoping I could remove cut the lower portion of part C to avoid the large bracket from hanging down. In your opinion would this compromise the performance of the camera?

Expert Reply:
The license plate bracket (Part C) of the Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera # HM50002 is made of 1/2 inch plastic so cutting it wouldn't cause any camera issues. Although it might not be necessary. The camera can easily be detached from the bracket and the sensors can be too using a screw driver. So it might work better for you to install it this way.
