Needed Gooseneck to Fifth Wheel Adapter to Tow a Montana Mountaineer Fifth Wheel Trailer
Question:
I am purchasing a used Montana Mountaineer by Ketystone RV, year 2005, model 348RLS, 5th wheel, 36foot x 8, 2 axles, 3 slides, 9,990 lbs. I need to tow it with a BandW 2 - 5/16inch ball mounted in the bed of a pick up truck. Initial tow will be 130 miles on mostly highway, then it will parked in one spot for a while. Can I use an extension? Or might this damage the pin box and frame on the RV? If I need to replace the pin box, what model do I purchase? Im a handy farmer so I anticipate I can replace the pin box by myself. The truck, 2001 F250 crew cab, tows a 12,000 lb rated goose neck stock trailer on the ball hitch on a regular basis.

Since you already have the B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch # BWGNRK1108 in your 2001 Ford F-250 then you can add the B&W Companion Fifth Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3500. The Companion is designed to work with the B&W gooseneck so you can have a good quality fifth wheel hitch without having to remove your gooseneck hitch.
If you prefer an adapter that installs onto the king pin you can use the Ranch Hitch Adapter # AM3100.
If you decide to replace your pin box you will need the model number off of it. Or you can measure the bolt pattern if you can't find the numbers.
