Trouble Installing Full-Size Spare With Hitch Mounted on 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe

Question:

which class III tow bar model will fit a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe with a full size tire mounted in the undercarrage well. Once I put in the full size spare I had to remove the class II tow bar that came with the vehicle as it prevented the tire from going all the way into the well.

The tow bar, or hitch that you selected, Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III, part # C13073, will fit your 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe. I contacted our representative at Curt and he informed me that the Santa Fe they installed part # C13073, on had a full size spare and had no issues.

He informed me that to re-install the spare tire after lowering it, you would want to wedge or position the spare against the tubing of the hitch and underside of the vehicle and then lift the rest of wheel up with cable system that lowers and raises spare tire.

The Curt representative informed me that the spare tire does not need to be lowered for initial install of Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III, part # C13073 on 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe. The hitch will cover a portion of the spare when mounted to your Santa Fe.

The Curt representative also sent a picture of a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe with full-size spare and the Curt Class III Hitch installed.
