Installation of a Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2014 Toyota Highlander V6 Hybrid
Question:
saw video on Curt wire harness . Will the two white connectors after you remove the covering in the back, be there regradless if tow package installed or not? Are they standard? Or do i have to remove everything and look? I t is a used highlander and i can find no documentation on if wiring is there or not. does not have a tow bar. years ago had 2006 highlander and bought wiring kit from you and ran from battery. then got one that attached to tail light harness from you. much easier to install. worked great. alos bought tow bar from you. plan to buy from you again, but want to make sure i get correct wiring kit.

Depending on if your 2014 Toyota Highlander has the tow package or not will dictate where the 4-way flat plug harness will connects on your vehicle.
If you have the tow package, you will use Curt # 56042. The plug for this harness is located behind the driver's side interior panel in your vehicle's rear cargo area. The plug will have four pins and will connect to the white connector end of the wiring harness.
If you do not have the tow package, the wiring connectors will be located behind the interior trim panel in the rear cargo area. The connectors will be located along the edge of trim where the door latches. The Curt T-Connector # C56217 would be the correct harness is you do not have the factory tow package.
The main difference between the two wiring harness is that the factory tow package models already have a power converter wired in at the factory. If your model has the wire plug on the driver's side area, then you have the tow package installed. If the wire plugs are located along the door trim, you do not have the factory tow package installed and there will be no power converter installed.
I have attached photos of where these plugs will be located at on both models of the 2014 Toyota Highlander.
