Installing Brophy D Ring Tie Down in 2 X 6 Boards

Question:

I am currently considering purchasing 8 of these tie downs along with backing plates , I see the recess needed to keep tie down ring flush with floor needs to be 3/4 of an inch X 3 3/8 - my question is having 2x6 floorboards how does 1 cut down only 3/4 of an inch ? I can cut down with a 3 3/8 whole saw but how do you dig it out , it appeares chiseling would not give it a professional look ! Any suggestions on proper tool to use? Thanks

Since the hole will be covered by the D-ring # RR05 you'll still have a professional look if you us a chisel.

When we installed them (see the linked video) we actually drilled all the way through the trailer floor because it was plywood.

We used a 3-1/4 inch hole saw.
