Recommendation for a Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier on a 2017 Subaru Forester
Question:
I need to purchase a hitch cargo carrier. I am trying to determine if I can use a class II carrier. I have a 1.25 inch receiver with a tongue weight of 200 pounds. Their is no dimple in the receiver to limit shaft length. My ball mount is 3.25 inches from the center of the hitch pin to the end of the shaft.

I found a cargo carrier that will fit your 2017 Subaru Forester. The Curt Cargo Carrier, # C18110, is rated for both Class I and Class II trailer hitches that use the 1-1/4 inch hitch receivers. This cargo carrier weighs 30 lbs, which will allow you up to 170 lbs of cargo.Your Subaru's tongue weight rating is at 200 lbs according to the 2017 Forester Owner's manual.
I also recommend the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock, # 2866DAT, to secure your cargo carrier to the hitch of your Forester.
I have linked a video that shows this carrier installed on a 2017 Subaru Forester for you to review.
