Can I Secure the Spring Bars on my Weight Distribution System Without my Trailer Connected
Question:
When not towing a trailer, can you drive with the hitch head assembly attached minus the spring bars? I dont want to damage the bar pivots, since there doesnt seem to be a way to secure them, but this is a heavy unit to be installing and uninstalling just because I want to leave the trailer behind to go to the store or dinner. Is there a way to secure the bar pivots when not in use?

You can secure the bars when not in use, but it is not recommended since the weight distribution system was not meant to be used like that. Instead, a unique feature of the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution # BXW0750 is that there are locking pins where the bar inserts into the bracket on the head which will enable you to easily remove the bars. You simply lift the locking pins on the trunnions and slide the bars out, no need to worry about damaging the brackets during removal. I attached a picture that highlights the pin that I'm talking about. We highly recommend removing the bars when you are not towing rather than trying to find a way to secure the bars. It is fairly common for people to drive around without the spring bars since the head assemblies are so heavy.
