Installation Procedure for Reese 5th Wheel Rail Kit RP30035 on a 2002 Ford F-350

Question:

I want to install a Reese 5th wheel, Quik Slide hitch into my 2002 F-350 4 Door Shortbox using the 30035 Universal Base Rail Mounting Kit. Do you have specific instructions for this application? Any pointers you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

The # RP30035 universal base rail kit is not vehicle specific, so the procedure for installing the kit on your 2002 F-350 would be basically the same as it would be for any compatible truck, but Reese does provide some information for the most common truck styles that would use the kit. They do have a few notes on the installation on your F-350.

First, on short bed vehicles like yours, you will attach the driver side forward bracket on row 2 of the bed rails to avoid interference with your fuel lines. If your truck has overload springs, you will need to switch the position of the long and short brackets. Lastly, you may need to move the bed rail location by 1/2 an inch to make sure the frame brackets do not interfere with the corrugation of the bed.

The specific notes for your vehicle are on page 11 of the instructions, which you can view at the included link. You can view a video of the kit being installed on a 2002 F-250, which will be very similar.

If you prefer, we also offer a custom fifth-wheel rail kit for your truck, part # RP50082-58. This kit requires no drilling and takes much less time to install. This kit would not be compatible if your truck is a Flareside or Stepside model. You can view the installation instructions at the link provided.

You can use fifth-wheel wiring harness # PK11893-11932 to install a 7-Way plug in your truck bed.
