Where to Measure a Trailer Axle to Select a Replacement Axle
Question:
I had a car carrier trailer given to me that has mobile home axles installed. They are to wide for the trailer and the springs are mounted on top of the axles making the trailer to high. How do I measure the trailer to determine the correct axle size. It is a tandem setup and I think I would need 2 3500lb axles.

On a trailer axle there are a few measurements that you can take. Take a look at the picture I have included for reference. The "A" measurement is the hub face to hub face measurement. The hub face is the surface of the hub where the wheel bolts to.
The "B" measurement is from the center of one spring seat to the center of the other spring seat.
We have numerous 3500 pound axles included some axle-less systems. I have included a link to them for you. The axle-less systems have built in suspension components so there is less that can go wrong, fewer parts to have to replace, no maintenance required and less susceptible to corrosion.
