Recommended Demco Auto-Slide 5th Wheel Hitch for 2017 Ram 2500 Laramie 4x4 with Factory Prep Kit
Question:
Looking for a slider hitch set up for my 2017 Ram 2500 Laramie 4x4 with factory 5th gooseneck prep package. I just purchased a 2017 Jayco 317RLOK having a dry hitch weight of 2015 #s , vertical hitch weight of 3250 #s, and a GVW of 12,750. Jayco specs the width as 96 inches wide. It also has the MORryde pinbox. I will be putting a headache rack on the truck as a support for an over the cab automatic boat loader for my 14 ft. boat and want to have as much clearance as possible when turning. The DM850040 has 22 inches and perhaps an additional 2 inches given the split track and the DM0880034 only has 14. Would the DM8550040 be better and not hit the bed rails with the 22 inch travel or would the 14 inch travel be better?

I recommend using a 5th wheel slider hitch with as much travel as possible to increase your turning clearance and minimize risk of contact between the trailer overhang and your headache rack/boat.
The Demco installation kit for your 2017 Ram 2500 Laramie 4x4 with factory prep package is part # DM6099 and with it I suggest the Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM8550040 which provides automatic sliding and 22-1/2-inches of travel for additional turning clearance.
