Recommended Ski Carrier for Factory Crossbars on 2013 Honda Pilot

Question:

Hello. I have a 2013 Honda Pilot and a 2008 Honda ski rack that is practically brand new. The hardware for attaching the ski rack is different as the mount for the ski rack was through the crossbars there was a rubber strip that had to be removed. However the new crossbars dont have a small rubber center crevice. So it needs to wrap around. I didnt know if the Yakima universal mighty mounts would allo me to use the old rack on it. How do you attach the rack to the mounts?

It sounds like your Honda-branded ski carrier uses what is commonly called a T-slot type attachment that works on crossbars such as the Rhino-Rack Vortex # RRVA137B-2 and the Inno Aero # INXB100. All of these crossbars have a similar channel for mounting T-slot type accessories. These various bars and accessories are not identical but we have found that typically a T-slot accessory product from one maker will usually work with a bar from another.

We do not offer any adapter kit that will allow a T-slot accessory to mount to a standard factory crossbar. The Yakima MightyMount system # Y03590 would fit on your new factory bars but it is compatible only with Yakima brand accessories.

We can help you with a ski carrier that will directly fit the factory crossbars on your 2013 Honda Pilot. You can see all options by clicking on the link provided. You can select your required ski capacity and choose a preferred brand by clicking on the filters on the page. Among the options shown a great value comes from the Rhino-Rack # RR573 which can hold up to 3 pairs of skis or 2 snowboards, and it includes a lock.
