Replacing B&W Turnover Ball Gooseneck with Under Bed Rails and a B&W 18K 5th Wheel Hitch

Question:

We are buying a 2015 GMC 3500HD with a BandW Turnoverball below bed gooseneck hitch. We want to convert that to a standard 18K BandW 5th wheel trailer hitch with below bed rails. Is that possible and what is the cost?

Yes, you can remove the B&W Turnover Ball Hitch # BWGNRK1012-5W and install bed rails, # BWRVK2506, and the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch 18K, # BWRVK3255. The only issue that you will have on you 2015 GMC Sierra 3500 will be the remaining holes in the bed from the gooseneck hitch.

For just a few dollars more and with very little installation, I recommend the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch, # BWRVK3500-5W. The Companion 5th wheel hitch is designed to mount to B&W's Turnover Ball gooseneck hitch. The 5th wheel hitch has a square tube shank located under the 5th wheel that mounts into the gooseneck ball mount of the Turnover Ball hitch. The Companion 5th wheel is rated at 20,000 lbs and since you already have the gooseneck hitch installed, the Companion would only cost few dollars more than the Patriot hitch and installation kit.

I have linked a few videos on both 5th wheel hitches for you to review.
