Trunk Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2007 Ford Edge
Question:
My bike dealer said the only type of bike rack for my Edge was to get a hitch. He said the canopy over the back window on the trunk hatch is not weight bearing. I would be much happier with one of the ones her that appear to secure under the body. Can you verify that it is safe for my vehicle? Also, my bike is a womens bike.

Your bike dealer is right about 1 thing; most spoilers on vehicles such as your 2007 Ford Edge are not meant to support weight. That is why Hollywood Racks came up with the Over-The-Top Rack # HRF2-3. This rack has an additional upper arm piece to move the top straps up and over the spoiler so no weight is put on it. You can use this rack whether or not the vehicle has a roof rack; you would just use the included hatch anchors. I have linked a video review of this bike rack for you. There is also a 2-bike version, # HRF2.
If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.
