Roof Rack for Using Thule Hyper XL Cargo Box TH612 on 2016 Toyota 4Runner
Question:
2016 Toyota 4 Runner Limited with stock cross bars on the roof. Strongly looking at getting the Thule TH612 from you folks. However, we are just trying to gather all our facts. The test 4Runner vehicle you had some bars you mounted on that well...resembled a large Moose... looking for bars that are a little more sleek...and not sticking out all moose-like is this feasible with this vehicle if so what are my options... Thanks for all you guys do! It really makes buying products easier!

If you already have roof rack crossbars that run side to side on the roof of the 4Runner then the Thule Hyper XL Rooftop Cargo Box TH612 can be mounted directly to those bars. The box mounting hardware will directly fit crossbars whose dimensions are up to 3-1/2-inches wide x 1-11/16-inches tall.
The video you referenced, which is linked, does show an aftermarket roof rack installed on the 4Runner. That vehicle did NOT have factory cross bars on the roof, only side rails that run front-to-back. The bars of that rack did extend out a bit more than necessary for the box (I think that is your Moose-like reference!).
