On a 2008 Honda CR-V, you could mount the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connector, # 118427, on the outside of the vehicle instead of on the inside like shown in the video linked below. What you will need to do is find a grommet or exit port at the bottom of the cargo bay (you will probably have to remove the spare tire).
You will need to cut a small slit in the grommet to fit the wires through. After cutting the grommet, be sure to seal it up with some silicone sealant so no exhaust fumes, road grime, or water can get through. You can then route the 4-Way over to the hitch and mount it using a bracket like # 18144.
In the event that routing the 4-Way in this manner does not leave enough slack to reach the end of the vehicle, you will need to add Car and Trailer End Loop 4-Pole, # 18044, which will give you plenty of length. just make sure to use some dielectric grease, # 11755, and electrical tape between the vehicle 4-Way and the extension 4-Way.
