Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch Recomendation on 2017 Ram 2500 6 Foot Bed and Factory Tow Package
Question:
Looking to set up a 5th wheel hitch in a 2017 Ram 2500 4x4 which has the 5th wheel / gooseneck prep package and sub frame. Would like to have as much cab clearance as I am planning on an over the cab auto load boat rack for which the rear support will mount to the front lip of the truck bed and really dont want to hit the rack or boat with the trailer which is yet to be purchased. will be in the 30 ft range with a GVW of approximately 12k pounds. Would like to be able to remove the hitch without the need of a hoist when not in use. May be a pipe dream but why not? Also need a 2 inch receiver for the front of the truck to mount the rack upright.

The Demco Hijacker Autoslide # DM8550034 will travel 14 inches to give you more turning clearance with your 2017 Ram 2500. The biggest advantage of the Hijacker is that it slides automatically so you don't have to exit your truck to slide the hitch whenever you're making a sharp turn. However, its largest drawback is that it weighs over 200 pounds so it can be difficult getting in and out of your truck. To use this with your Ram you'll need the Rail Adapter # DM6099 as well.
For a lighter option, the Reese Slider # RP30083 is a manual slide that will travel up to 11 inches. The Rail Adapter # RP30154 will install the Titan into your Ram.
For a front mount hitch the Draw-Tite # 65063 is confirmed to fit your truck. Its line pull rating is 9,000 pounds and vertical load is 500 pounds. I've attached an install video on a 2014 Ram that for you to take a look at.
