Recommended Tire chains For 2015 Toyota Tacoma To Pull Trailer On Grassy Hill

Question:

I may have an unusual question regarding snow chains. I keep a trailer 3500lbs at the rear of my property, which is 50 ft. away from my concrete drive. The path is all grass and about a 15-20 degree incline. My Tacoma is 2 WD and sometimes the rear tires slip on the grass if I stop momentarily or the ground is damp. Do you think snow chains would allow me position my trailer up this hill to its parking spot without losing traction? I live in southern NC, so we see little snow.

Although tire chains are designed to be used in snow and ice, I understand how they could be useful on a slippery grassy hill.

The owner's manual for your 2015 Tacoma says to only put tire chains on the rear tires. Tire chains are designed for specific tire sizes. We show 215/70-15, 245/75-16, and 265/70-16 as the typical tire sizes that would be on your Tacoma. If you have a different size tire than those three let me know and I will be happy to make a recommendation that will work for you.

The larger the tire chains the better they will grip but that means they will also probably tear up the grass when being used.

If you have 215/70-15 tires I recommend part # TC1138.

If your tires are 245/75-16 you could use part # PWH2221SC, and if you have 265/70-16 tires I recommend part # TC2828CAM.

All of the tire chains we have for the size tires I mentioned are designed for on road use. You will need to use extreme caution when using them on your grassy hill.
