Trailer Tire Wear on Outside and Inside of Tread Only After 600 Mile Trip

Question:

bought new set of Kendra tires and took a trip 600 mile round trip and the inside and outside edge are almost completely bald. plenty or tread in center. before leaving each tire was inflated to 60lbs. The trailer carries two atv in which I had a 2014 brute force 750 and 2011 Polaris sportsman 500 on to transport. Speeds ranges from 30 to about 80mph. any ideas on what could have caused the weird wear on the tires. thanks

Tire wear on the outside and inside tread only generally means that the tires were under inflated. Kenda tires are also rated for a maximum of 65 miles per hour so speeds above that likely exacerbated the issue.

I don't think it was a weight issue because for weight to cause this problem the tires would have had to have been severely overloaded.

What is the tire size and load range indicated on the tires you have? There should also be a maximum psi rating listed and the tires should be inflated to that maximum psi. It is possible that if you used a gauge that gauge could be off. I have I don't know how many gauges that read inaccurate pressure so it is entirely possible that is what happened.

Another possibility is that trailer sway, the trailer rocking back and forth, added to the wear on the outside and inside tread. But it would have to do it a lot for a long period of time before it became noticeable on the tires.

So that is a few things to look at. We do have some tire options rated for up to 81 miles per hour but I would need to know the tire size and load range needed to see if we have any that will fit.
