Comparison of Curt Class III Trailer Hitch Receivers for 2015 Jeep Cherokee Limited
Question:
I am looking to install a trailer hitch on my 2015 Jeep Cherokee Limited. I am wondering what the difference is between the two Curt Class 3 Receiver hitches. Is the difference that the one does not require cutting of the facia? Also I have the back up sensors in my jeep, will this have any affect on installation/use? Obviously I will need to turn off the sensors when towing.

The main difference between Curt Class III Trailer Hitch Receivers # C13172 and # C13171 is the appearance. The # C13172 hides the cross tube of the hitch so all the is exposed under your 2015 Jeep Cherokee Limited is the receiver opening. On the # C13171 you will be able to see the majority of the hitch. This is also the reason for the fascia trimming on the # C13172. The receiver opening us under the fascia while the cross tube is hidden away behind it. So there needs to be an opening cut into the fascia for the receiver opening to pass through. See the two install videos of each hitch.
Your back up sensors will not be an issue for the hitch. However, they will engage while in reverse with the trailer connected. So turning them off isn't a bad idea.
Wiring Harness # C56208 will give you a 4-way trailer connector. This plugs directly into your Jeep's wiring harness, which is located behind both tail lights. I've attached an install video of the harness as well.
I've linked our selection of ball mounts to choose from so you can choose the correct one you need. You'll want to determine the amount of rise or drop before purchasing. I've attached an article on choosing the correct ball mount. A great option is the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit # 989900.
