Does Front Fascia/Skid Plate Need to be Removed To Install Curt Front-Mount Hitch on 2001 Ford F-150

Question:

On my 2001 F 150 supercrew, does the front fascia need to be removed or trimmed, the same question for the skid plate. I was thinking of installing Curt part # 31038

The item you selected Curt Front-Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 31038, does not require trimming or removal of fascia to be installed. You will have to remove or trim the skid plate to install. The tow hooks will also need to be removed to install Curt Front-Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver and then are re-installed.

The Curt Front-Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 31038, will only fit the 4-wheel drive model F-150. If you have a 2-wheel drive model, you will need Draw-Tite Front Hitch, part # 65025, which will fit the 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive models.

The Draw-Tite Front Hitch, part # 65025, will require the lower fascia to be removed and tow hooks and skid plate to be removed.

I have linked instructions for the Curt Front-Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 31038 and Draw-Tite Front Hitch, part # 65025. I have also linked an FAQ on using fish wire to install a hitch and and FAQ on finding the correct electric winch that you may find as a good reference.
