Troubleshooting Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring for Towed Vehicles on 2014 Honda CR-V
Question:
Installed Hopkins wiring kit on 2014 Honda CR-V. Worked perfect for 2 weeks and quit working. No blinkers, tail lites or brake lites. Have you had problems with the control box on this kit? Ive been a mechanic for 50 years so I know what Im doing. I have current coming from the motorhome for all the lites but I havent taken anything apart at the rear of the car to test yet. There really isnt anything to fix at the rear of the car as it is all plug in. Its still all hooked up at tail lights and bulbs are all good. All the lites work when operating the car.

Since you've already verified you're getting power at the rear of your motorhome we know it's somewhere after that. The first thing that comes to mind is check the ground wire on the harness. Make sure the connection point is a smooth, clean, metal surface. Possibly even relocate the ground to somewhere the metal of the vehicle is overlapping to increase the metal to metal contact.
The next to inspect is the wiring itself from the front 4-way all the way back. You're looking for any signs of damage, which would most likely be caused by heat. Follow the wires all the way back and if need be check the connections behind the tail lights.
If you can't find any damage and all the connection points are well connected and clean let me know and we'll do more troubleshooting.
