Yes, if you wanted to tow a 2002 Ford Escape with a Tow Ready Adjustable Tow Bar, 5,000 lbs, part # 63180, you would need a base plate like the Roadmaster Base Plates for the 2002 Escape by Ford, part # 481-3.

In order you to attach the # 63180 to the # 481-3 you would need to purchase a Roadmaster Base Plate to Tow Ready Tow Bar Adapter, part # RM-025. You may also be interested in a Roadmaster Tow Bar Quick Disconnect Kit, part # RM-201, to make removal and installation a little easier. Keep in mind that this tow bar is rated for towing speeds of 45 miles per hour or less.

A better tow bar option would be the RoadMaster Tracker Tow Bar, # RM-020, which is designed for towing long distances and more frequently. With this tow bar you will need a set of Quick Disconnects, # RM-201, to easily connect and disconnect the tow bar from the base plates.

You will also need a RoadMaster 68 inch Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables - 6,000 lbs, part # RM-643.

And for tail lights you could use a Magnetic Towing Light Kit, 20 ft. Long Cord, part # RM-2120.

If you would like supplemental braking that would lighten the braking load of your tow vehicle I would recommend the Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Proportional Braking System, part # RM-9400.

Finally be sure to check the towability and pre-towing conditions for your vehicle in the vehicle owners manual or with the vehicle dealer.
