What Is The Function Of The Draw-Down Bolt On B&W Companion Fifth Wheel Hitch

Question:

What function does the draw down bolt on a BandW Companion 5th wheel hitch actually perform? thanks in advance

Expert Reply:

The Draw-Down bolt is used to adjust the socket adjuster when you are installing the Companion hitch.

When using the Companion like part # BWRVK3400 you need to retract the gooseneck latch pin handle to remove the Turnoverball from the bed of the truck. Then slide the handle back in so that it passes all the way through the shank on the Companion hitch. If it does not pass through both sides of the shank you can use the Draw-Down bolt to adjust the socket to allow the pin to pass through both sides.
