The Full Size Locking Steel Flush Door Latch # L3980 is designed to fit 1-1/16 inch thick doors and mounts in a hole that is 4-5/8 X 3-3/8 inches. If there are no screws visible, then your existing latch is likely welded on, and you will probably have to cut off it off to get started. Be sure to be cautious when removing your old latch, so you don't damage your trailer door in the process. If you're able to send some photos, I can give you a better idea about how to start removing the original latch. You will also need screws or pop rivets to install your new door latch. Drilling pilot holes in each corner of the new latch will be necessary as well.
