Troubleshooting Light Bar Installation On 2015 Ford F-150

Question:

I have a 2015 Ford F-150 FX4 Pickup Truck and I added a light bar between the tailgate and the bumper. When I plug it into the 4 wire trailer connector, My dash always thinks I have a trailer on and the backup camera is different and the dash thinks I have a trailer on. Do you offer a solution for this? Perhaps a Yinch connector so I avoid this and everything works as it should?? Thanks,

It sounds like your light bar has been wired incorrectly. You somehow tied the light bar wiring into the wiring that identifies a trailer.

I recommend disconnecting the wiring for the light bar. Most have just two wires. One is typically white with a ring terminal and that is the ground which should be attached to a clean metal surface.

The other wire should be attached to a wire that shows power only when the running lights on your truck are on. You can use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to identify the wire you need to attach the light bar to. I have attached a link to a helpful article that explains trailer wiring and also shows what wires on a wiring harness are used for.
