5-Way Adapter Recommendation for 2011 Mercedes Benz Sprinter Van
Question:
I have a 2011 Mercedes sprinter. I purchased Item #119179KIT. My boat trailer requires a signal when the vehicle is in reverse to disable the brakes when backing up. Would I need to splice into the reverse light wire directly or use an additional relay for the 5th wire on the trailer harness?

What you need is the 4-way to 5-way adapter part # 20036. This will plug into the 4-way of your 2011 Mercedes Sprinter and allow you to run the fifth circuit to your reverse light circuit on the vehicle and will allow your trailer with surge brakes back up freely.
