Where to Access Vehicle Wiring in 2012 Toyota Tacoma to Install Custom Power Tailgate Lock PAL8521

Question:

PopandLock #PL8521 for 2012 Toyota Tacoma Instructions and video show this being installed on a four door cab. I have an access cab model. The rear doors do not have locks. There is no door lock wiring in the B post, as there is no B post. Can this be used with my truck? Can the wiring be routed to the passenger front door lock and connected there? What is the wiring color pattern at that point? Where do I intercept the wiring at that door? Is there a video for the access cab model installation?

Pop & Lock does confirm that their Custom Power Tailgate Lock # PAL8521 is a fit on all versions of the 2012 Toyota Tacoma.

I reviewed the detailed instructions that are available on their website and note that in your case you will access the lock wiring by removing the driver's kick panel, finding the harness going to the door and locating the Blue/red (+) and Blue/black (-)wires. Use the supplied quick-splice connectors to tap into the power lock system.

We do not yet have a video for your particular application.

I can’t find those colors on the 2012, does anyone know the actual colors of the wires to tap into for the 2012 Toyota Tacoma.

We actually have an install video on the 2012 Tacoma (linked below) and we utilized a black wire with pink tracer and a black wire with blue tracer for the kit. If you don't have these wires you may just need to test them for function using a circuit tester.
