Fifth Wheel Hitch and Rail Kit Recommendation for 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 Short Bed

Question:

Hello, Just bought a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 standard bed/extended cab and looking for a 30-33foot Excel fifth wheel. 18-20K lbs. capacity We are driving some distances to see the used 2006-2008 5th wheel inventory. It seems prudent to buy in the right order as we are headed south to Central America roads for boon docking . 1 Seems we should next buy the RV, then fit the proper hitch or does it make a difference/ do we need to buy the RV with the extended hitch? we intend on buying a sliding hitch on the truck 2 What would you suggest as the best 2 hitches to have safe turning radius, with possibly kayaks or bicycles on the truck roof ? 3 any other suggestions to get us on the road south? Thanks,

A fifth wheel hitch properly rated for the weight of the trailers you are considering that has a slider since you have a short bed truck would work well.

My favorite slider hitch is the Demco Hijacker AutoSlide like part # DM8550034 for the 18k version or part # DM8550038 for the 21k version. These will be your best options since using this hitch will not require you to get out and activate a slider every time you get to a parking lot. Since you will be traveling quite a bit you will REALLY appreciate this feature so I recommend it highly. I attached review videos.

For a custom rail kit for your 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 you would want the part # DM8552011-71 which is custom fit to your truck so it would minimize drilling and install time when compared to a universal kit.
