Red Light on Brake Controller Sometimes Comes on When Using High Beams with No Trailer Connected

wired into factory harness on 2009 Silverado sometimes when I flip my high beam headlights on the red light on the brake control will come and stay on till I tap the brake pedal while not pulling trailer

You have a unique situation that I've never ran across before. So I reached out to my contact at Curt and he's thinking that the ground wire on your Curt Venturer Brake Controller # C74VV has power coming through it from the high beam switch of your truck. To test this he said to cut the ground wire and test the current through it. If it reads inconsistent then this is your problem.

He suggested using a diode (part # RM-790) on the ground wire, or replace the high beam switch in your truck to fix the issue.
