Comparing Thule AeroBlade & AeroBlade Edge Roof Racks for 2013 Ford Explorer with Raised Side Rails

Question:

Good Morning, I have a 2013 ford explorer sport with factor rail bars, requiring Thule cross bars. I would like to install the Thule Aeroblades for the car, provided you agree but am not sure of the proper size. Any help is greatly appreciated! Best

For your 2013 Ford Explorer Sport Thule offers two types of AeroBlade roof racks, the 60-inch thru-bar type and the 39-3/4-inch Edge crossbars that provide more of an OEM look. Both bar lengths are fully compatible with your Explorer's raised side rails. You also have a choice of silver or black crossbars. Both types of rack when installed on your vehicle will have the same 165-lb weight capacity and the same 38-inch crossbar spread (the distance between the centers of the two bars).

All four Thule rack options are shown on the linked page, both types and both colors.

You choice of bar length will depend on what you intend to use the rack for. If, for example, you only need to load up one cargo box, or just a pair of bikes on bike carriers such as the Thule ProRide XT # TH598004 then either bar length will be fine. But if you need to mount both a couple of bikes along with a cargo box or cargo basket then the longer bars may be your better choice.

For the cleanest appearance the shorter Edge system bars in black are the way to go, part # TH7504B-TH7504B.

The two linked articles on roof racks may be of interest to you.
